OIL PAINTING CLASS #2!

Natalie (age 8) is starting a landscape

Anna (age 10) is working on a Cedar Waxwing

The girls began a second painting today.  Since Oils take so long to dry, I like to have them work on 2 paintings so they can switch back and forth when one gets too wet to work on.

GIFT CERTIFICATES!

KID CREATIONS OFFERS GIFT CERTIFICATES!  If you (or Grandparents!) want to give the gift of art this holiday, or for other special events, contact me for details at rebecca.brooks1@yahoo.com.

A fun way to present a gift certificate for an art class is to wrap it up with some art supplies!  Good quality art pencils and a sketchpad coupled with a gift certificate make an inexpensive but special gift.

Classes are already being scheduled for 2013:
CLAY for ages 12 and up, 3 week class starting mid-Jan (dates/times TBA), hosted by Lynn Fleites at her home in Spring Hill.  $50 per child with a sibling discount of 15%.

DRAWING for ages 12 and up, 6 week class following the Jan clay class (dates/times TBA), hosted by Lynn Fleites at her home in Spring Hill. $72 per child with a 15% sibling discount.

ALL SUPPLIES ARE PROVIDED FOR THESE CLASSES with the exception of a sketch book for the drawing class. Thanks for supporting the arts!

JAMES COLEMAN - BIO

http://www.freewebs.com/moreboardwalkartists/Inventory/ColemanArtistProfile.pdf

Quote from James Coleman, Disney artist.

"One of the teachers said he was going to take us into his studio and show us a brush stroke he had worked his whole life to invent. I just looked at this guy and said to myself: 'This is a bunch of nonsense!' I realized he was intellectualizing something that, in my mind, was a spiritual thing. Painting isn't an intellectual study . . . it comes from the heart."

CHALK PASTEL CLASS #1 OF 4 - gridding

Me with the whole group
Kayla and Shayna working hard!
Alex and Levi working on their grids - great job guys!
The group!

Today was day one of drawing with pastels and the kids chose their reference photos, got their paper gridded and began drawing basic outlines.  They did an awesome job!  Gridding isn't always easy, but this group tackled it with perseverance and patience, and I'm really proud of them. Next week - blocking in color with powdered pastels.
